Chief Detective Jack Kowesitall informed ISN detectives about important information discovered at the crime scene. This include:

a crime scene photo of the victim "Jason Edmunds", showing lacerations that formed scabs accross the bridge of the victim's nose, and a swollen left eye with bruises on the left lower eye lid. It suggested that the victim was in a fight about 2 - 3 days before the murder.
a copy of a british passport, showing a photo of either the victim or his identical twin brother. The copy contains no information about the identity of the victim as this section of the copy burned.
a copy of the victim's identical twin brother's RSA passport.
a burned printout of an email, containing vital information, that might suggest a possible motive for the murder.

Knowesitall discussed the autopsy report with the detectives and said that the suspect(s) are righthanded and that the victim was stabbed with a downward movement causing a wound measuring 10 centimeters that cut the cartorid arterie. Bruising to the back of the victim's head and under the lining of the brain indicates that the victim was hit with a blunt instrument before the fatal stab wound occured.

He said that the crime scene and immediate area was searched but no murder weapon has been found. Knowesitall asked detectives to get on with identifying possible suspects.

Your Science Teacher's identical twin brother Jason Edmunds have been found murdered, in a park near the school.

As a detective on the ISN Criminal Investigations Department (CID) it is your task to solve this murder, using clues and forensic evidence found at the crime scene. You will be briefed daily by Chief Detective Jay Knowesitall, as evidence is discovered by the investigating team.

You will be working individually, with a partner or as part of the ISN CID team. It is important to share all information and evidence you discovered with your partner and the team during meetings.

In this fictional murder mystery you will learn how detectives and forensic scientists work to solve crimes.

Learning partners are expected to:

Research the history of forensic science in criminal investigations.
Apply the appropriate forensic science techniques to analyse evidence found at the fictional crime scene.
Use their findings, clues and logical thinking to solve a crime.

Skills I will learn during this project:

Problem solving, reasoning and higher order thinking skills.
How to use a footprint to calculate the height of a suspect.
Analysis of hair, fibres, blood smears, chemical analysis and fingerprints to identify and eliminate suspects.
How to interpret and use DNA fingerprinting to eliminate suspects.
